Coming in 2025, our new play and film will address the question of migration through collaboration with Syrian women, currently confined to Turkey.
On 29th November 2023, Border Crossings hosted an online performance of THE GAZA MONOLOGUES. Created by Ashtar Theatre in Palestine, the monologues were performed across the world as a statement of solidarity with the people of Gaza.
CRE-ACTORS: Devising Theatre for an Intercultural Europe
Led by Border Crossings, CRE-ACTORS was a two-year project for 2021-2, which explored how devised theatre can develop work for intercultural societies. Artists from the world-famous Théâtre du Soleil in Paris, the innovative and socially conscious Teatro dell'Argine in Bologna, and Border Crossings in Sligo shared a series of workshops to learn about and from one another's working methods. Our Swedish dramaturgical partner, The Fence, worked with us to understand these approaches in a wider cultural context.
X-European. Negotiating Identities in the Third Space
In 2021-23, we worked with lead partner VHS Aalen (Germany), together with educational and cultural organisations in Turkey and Finland, on this exploration of the Third Space as a location for culture, and as an approach to cross-cultural dialogue, social integration, and democratic exchange.
Both Cre-Actors and X-European were funded by the Erasmus + programme of the European Union.
